Sahaja Yoga, founded in 1970 by Dr. Nirmala Chandrika Prasad Srivastava, is a transformational meditation method that is practiced at no cost in over 140 countries, including India. It empowers individuals to develop inner morality, unity, integration and balance, leading them to a profound state of mental peace and silence. In today's fast-paced and technology-driven society, where the pursuit of material success often overtakes inner peace, Sahaja Yoga meditation offers a path to overcoming physical and emotional challenges, no matter your age, gender or religious affiliation. Within human body, there exists a subtle system made up of energy centers known as chakras and channels called nadis. These seven chakras (Muladhara, Swadhisthana, Nabhi, Hridaya or Anahata, Vishuddhi, Ajna and Sahasrara) and three nadis (Ida, Pingala and Sushumna) play a vital role in well-being of individuals. Aligned along the spine and represented in the hands, feet, and head, each chakra is associated with different qualities: Muladhara symbolizes innocence, Swadhisthana symbolizes creativity, the navel represents peace, the heart symbolizes love and compassion, Vishuddhi symbolizes collectivity, Ajna symbolizes forgiveness, and Sahasrara represents integration. During Sahaja Yoga meditation, practitioners experience a soothing and balancing effect on the various chakras within their body, indicating a state of balance [Rathor et al., 2020].
